River Fishing

Try your luck in the spring with wild BC steelhead, dolly varden, and cutthroat trout.  In the summer there is an abundance of salmon.  Runs of numerous species of mature salmon start heading up the river to spawn.  These are beautiful times to be out in the wilderness and this is a perfect river for fly-fishing

Steelhead Adventures:

Our river the Kak·Wei·Ken, is a class 2 river. All our fish are as wild and as unmolested as they come. Casting into crystal clear pools, the wild salmon will strike hard at your lure.  The “playing” can go on for as long as an hour depending on the size of your catch; there is no comparison to wild salmon in an untamed river.

We start our adventures in April through to the middle of May, prime time being the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May. We are very fortunate to be associated with the Sailcone Lodge and have done their river guiding for the past ten years.  The Trapper knows all the hot spots. When the fish are in the river he will lead you to them, and then it will be your turn to apply your skill and get them to the beach for a photo session that will be long remembered.

This is a true wilderness fishing adventure where on most days you will have the river to yourself.  The accommodation for our river fishing trips is at the Trapper’s cabin right on the river. In the morning you can view the steelhead making their way upstream while having your coffee.  If you are a Steelheader, this is the place you want to be.

For those who want to do it all, we can arrange 2 days of your trip ocean fishing for the mighty spring salmon with John Reed from Sailcone Lodge.

Summer River Fishing:

Our trips start in mid-July and run through to September.  At this time you can tie in to all species of salmon. (Chinook, Coho, Pink, Chum, and summer run Steelhead, as well as Dolly Varden and Cutthroat Trout) “You can fish ‘till your arms fall off,” as Trapper would say.

Imagine yourself fishing the crystal clear waters of the Kak·Wei·Ken as the eagles soar overhead and the bears and other wildlife peacefully roam the riverside feeding on the abundance of wild salmon.  This is truly as good as it gets.
